YOUTH ACTIVITIES
The Youth Ministry at Orleans United is an outreach mission that strives to provide opportunities for Youth and Young Adults, both from our congregation and the larger community, to gather in faith, friendship and in community. The Youth ministry programs serve nearly 100 youth, all of whom are leaders today in service, dedication and devotion, as well as being the future leaders of our church.
The Youth Ministry comprises an eclectic mix of programs, activities, missions and worship to inspire Youth and Young Adults" participation in church life and their individual spiritual development. The Youth Ministry, which is based on a rich curriculum comprising the church lectionary and the theme "Building Family", includes:
  • A vibrant Sunday School program for Grades 1-6
  • Junior Adolescents Worshipping Our God (JadWOG) is the group for middle school youth (Grades 7 to 8). This group meets Sunday mornings during the 9:00 am worship services, and at other times for activities, games and outings
  • Confirmation classes
  • Adolescents Worshipping Our Lord (AdWOL) is an integrated Sunday program for high school youth. On Sundays, teens hold their own worship and discussions during the 11:00 am worship time and frequently participate in../../ inter-generational services
  • 8th Orleans Scout Group is an active part of the Youth Ministry at OUC and hosts the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner for the congregation. Devoted to Duty to God, Duty to Others and Duty to Self, the Group provides a superb programme for the youth of the church and the wider community that is in keeping with the principles of OUC. 
Each of the Youth programs enjoy a special variety of learning experiences, from preparing for time in church services, to baking for church bazaars, and other church events.
AdWOL has enjoyed Retreats at a leader's cottage and the Rideau Hill Camp as well as gathering and sharing together each Sunday morning in the AdWOL lounge.
Once again, we are blessed with the energy and devotion of our leaders who are dedicated to nurturing the spiritual, social and emotional well-being of all youth entrusted to them through education, friendship, action, prayer, love and service through Jesus Christ.
