TERMS OF REFERENCE 
ADULT MINISTRIES COMMITTEE
 
Purpose 
The Adult Ministries Committee exists to bring the congregation together in friendship, action, prayer, love and service through Jesus Christ. 
Membership
  • Chair and/or Co-chair(s)
  • Coordinator of Continuing Education Programs (i.e. Lenten & October Schools)
  • Library Coordinator(s)
  • Subscriptions Coordinator
  • Member at large
  • Social Programs Coordinator (i.e. Bitobi, Women’s and Men’s Club) 
Responsibilities 
The Committee shall: 
  • Ensure that all leaders demonstrate integrity with Christian values and principles
  • Provide adult educational programming (i.e. refresher courses, adult Bible studies)
  • Provide social events for the members of the congregation to enhance effectiveness of the program
  • Evaluate programs annually
  • Perform needs assessments when necessary
  • Keep, provide and report financial and other records to acceptable standards
  • Coordinate and communicate with other relevant groups and people as necessary to provide the program, resources and space necessary for efficient functioning and scheduling of church programming (i.e. Worship Committee, Finance Committee, property Committee, Ottawa Presbytery, Office Administrator, Ministry and Personnel Committee, at all levels of the United Church of Canada, bulletin board)
  • Ensure that all personnel receive initial and ongoing training to carry out their functions effectively
  • Develop leadership skills of potential members of the committee to ensure that there is sufficient personnel to ensure that roles are filled and the collective memory is retained
  • Accountable to the Council of OUC and report on an "as required" basis to Council
