OUTREACH COMMITTEE
PURPOSE
In response to the love and freedom offered to us in Jesus Christ, we strive to be faithful stewards of all we have received. We are saved by our faith, and action is the fulfillment of that faith. “So then, as the body without Spirit is dead, also faith without action is dead.” (James 2:26)
The Outreach Committee is responsible for encouraging the congregation to share their gifts both inside and outside the church, and directing the outreach projects of Orleans United Church.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Outreach Committee is responsible to the Council for:
- annually reviewing the financial objectives of the church’s outreach programs in the local, regional, national and international community;
- planning and conducting a regular awareness and education program to make the congregation aware of Orleans United Church’s outreach objectives and motivate them to meet these objectives;
- working with the Finance Committee to ensure that the congregation is fully aware of the church’s financial position and helping initiate options for the church’s offering; and
- acting as focal point and liaison with the Council for groups within the church and with local, national or international outreach groups.
LIAISON
One member, the Chair or Co-Chair (or designate) should represent the committee on Council.
The Committee should maintain liaison with:
- the Finance Committee regarding the setting of budget goals;
- the Worship Committee regarding the scheduling of the Minutes for Mission and other similar events during worship time;
- the Volunteer Coordinating Committee regarding congregational time and talent resources offered through the annual stewardship visits; and
- the Stewardship Committee to coordinate requests to the congregation.
